Why Ethyl Acetate Is Polar
On the reason for the polarity of ethyl acetate
Ethyl acetate is also a chemical substance. It has polarity, and there must be a reason for it.

The structure of ethyl acetate, between carbon and oxygen, is connected by covalent bonds. However, carbon and oxygen have different electronegativity. Oxygen has strong electronegativity. In the covalent bond, the force of electron absorption is large, causing the electron cloud to be biased towards the oxygen atom. For example, the oxygen of carbonyl groups strongly attracts electrons, making carbonyl carbon positive. In the ethyl part, in the covalent bond of carbon and hydrogen, the electron cloud distribution is relatively uniform, but the electron cloud density is slightly higher than that of carbonyl groups.

Furthermore, the geometry of the molecule is also related to polarity. The asymmetric structure of ethyl acetate has an uneven distribution of electron clouds. Therefore, one end of the molecule is positively charged and the other end is negatively charged, which is the characteristic of polarity.

In summary, ethyl acetate has polarity due to the difference in internal atomic electronegativity, which causes the electron cloud to be uneven, and the molecular structure is asymmetric. This is the fundamental reason for its polarity.
