Method of making ethyl acetate
If you want to make ethyl acetate, you need to understand the reason and follow the method. When acetic acid and ethanol are used as the quality, sulfuric acid as the catalyst, co-placed in the device, heat should be used.
Take an appropriate amount of acetic acid and ethanol, and inject it into the flask according to an appropriate ratio. For sulfuric acid, it has the ability to dehydrate and catalyze, pour it in slowly, stir it well, and prevent heat from forming suddenly.
Next, connect the device to the condenser pipe and the receiver to pass cold water to the condenser pipe to make the gas re-liquid. Place the flask in the asbestos net, low heat and slow heat, and control the temperature to a suitable degree. Do not let the liquid boil too much to avoid the loss rate of mass escape.
In the meantime, acetic acid and ethanol are catalyzed by sulfuric acid to form ethyl acetate and water. The gas is condensed and the liquid is dripped into the receiver.
After completion, the product is washed with saturated sodium carbonate, except for the untreated acetic acid; the product is washed with saturated salt water and calcium chloride liquid to remove ethanol and sulfuric acid. Then dry it with anhydrous magnesium sulfate to remove the remaining water.
Finally, pure ethyl acetate is obtained by distillation. This is the method of making ethyl acetate, and it takes every step to get good results.
