Home Sources of Carbon Monoxide
The source of carbon monoxide in the home

In today's home, there are many sources of carbon monoxide, which cannot be ignored.

First, burners are a common source. Such as gas stoves, when cooking, if the gas is not burned out or the ventilation is not smooth, it is prone to carbon monoxide. At this time, the gas is in the stove, and it cannot get enough oxygen to burn completely, so some carbon elements are not fully oxidized, and it is turned into carbon monoxide to escape and permeate the room.

Furthermore, the fireplace should also be paid attention to. In the cold winter, wood is used as fuel for heating. During the combustion of wood, if the ventilation system of the fireplace is not good, the air supply is difficult to meet the needs of combustion, and carbon monoxide will quietly breed. The reason is that firewood burns without oxygen, the oxidation process of carbon is blocked, and carbon monoxide is a by-product.

There are also water heaters. If gas water heaters are improperly installed or used for too long, the components are aging, and the gas combustion condition is poor, carbon monoxide may leak. If the flue of the water heater is blocked, the exhaust gas cannot be discharged from the outside smoothly, and it flows back into the room, in which carbon monoxide threatens the well-being of the family.

What's more, when the power is cut off in household generators, some people use them for emergency power supply. However, generators are mostly fueled by gasoline, diesel oil, etc. If used indoors or in places with poor ventilation, the carbon monoxide content in the exhaust gas produced by fuel combustion is quite high. This is because the indoor space is relatively closed, the air circulation is limited, and the combustion products are difficult to disperse

In the home, sources of carbon monoxide such as these should be treated with caution. When checking gas appliances, fireplaces, water heaters and other equipment, ensure good ventilation to prevent carbon monoxide accumulation and endanger the safety of family members.
