Drying Ethyl Acetate
The method of drying ethyl acetate
If you want to dry ethyl acetate, it is not easy, you need to check the physical properties in detail, and choose a good method carefully.

Ethyl acetate is volatile, slightly soluble in water, miscible with alcohols, ethers, etc. To dry, do not damage its quality.

In the usual method, you can choose a desiccant. Anhydrous sodium sulfate, its mild nature, water absorption is quite good, can be used for preliminary drying. Take an appropriate amount of anhydrous sodium sulfate, pour it into a container containing ethyl acetate, shake it slightly, so that it is fully in contact with the liquid. After a while, sodium sulfate absorbs water and agglomerates, and then filters to remove its solids to obtain a initially dried ethyl acetate.

However, if higher purity is desired, anhydrous magnesium sulfate is also a good choice. Its water absorption efficiency is higher, and it has little effect on the chemical properties of ethyl acetate. It is put into the liquid, fully stirred and left to stand, and the desiccant is filtered off to obtain a better dried ethyl acetate.

And it is dried with a molecular sieve. The molecular sieve has a uniform pore size, can selectively adsorb water molecules, and does not interact with ethyl acetate. Ethyl acetate is passed through the device filled with molecular sieves, and the water molecules are captured by the molecular sieve, and the liquid is dried ethyl acetate.

In short, drying ethyl acetate can be achieved by carefully selecting the method according to the required purity and actual conditions, and obtaining pure ethyl acetate for various uses.
