Chemical Hazards of Ethyl Acetate
Ethyl acetate has specific chemical hazards. It is flammable and can cause combustion and explosion when exposed to open flames and high heat energy. In a fire, the heated container is at risk of explosion.
Its vapor and air can form an explosive mixture. Contact with oxidants will react violently.
Inhalation of ethyl acetate vapor is irritating to the respiratory tract. Inhalation at high concentrations can cause anesthesia, causing dizziness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting and other symptoms. If it comes into contact with the skin, it may cause irritation. Contact with the eyes can be irritating to the eyes.
When using and storing ethyl acetate, be sure to follow safety procedures. Store in a cool and ventilated place, away from fire and heat sources, and store separately from oxidants for safety.
