CarbonCycleSourcesSinksAndSeasons
On the relationship between the source, sink and season of the carbon cycle
Between heaven and earth, the cycle of carbon is related to the life of all things, and its source and sink change with the seasons. This is a wonderful principle of nature.

The source of carbon, many factors cause carbon to be released into the atmosphere. During the hot summer, everything is lush, but forest fires occasionally occur, the fire is rapid, trees and plants are all ashes, and a large amount of carbon enters the atmosphere in the form of carbon dioxide, which is one of the carbon sources. And living things breathe non-stop, humans, animals, insects, birds and even microscopic fungi all absorb oxygen and spit carbon. In summer, life is booming, biological activities are frequent, and carbon exhalation is also prosperous. Furthermore, the industry is endless, factory chimneys are lined, day and night, coal and fuel are burned, and carbon is also rolling out. Although this is the case in all seasons, the production may be busier in summer, and carbon emissions will also increase.

As for carbon sinks, it is the place where carbon is naturally absorbed. The warm sun shines in spring, the earth recovers, plants and trees sprout and spread leaves, and carbon dioxide is absorbed by photosynthesis, which sequesters carbon in the body and gradually becomes a lush state. The forest is vast, like the lungs of the earth. It is more and more lush in summer and has a stronger carbon absorption capacity. Wetlands, where aquatic plants are abundant and algae float, are also carbon sinks. In spring and autumn, they absorb carbon stably. Oceans, even more massive carbon sinks. Plankton, such as algae, use sunlight to photosynthesize, absorb carbon in the atmosphere, and sink to the bottom of the sea after death. Over the years, carbon accumulates in the deep sea. And seawater is soluble in carbon dioxide, and its capacity is huge. Although seasonal changes affect it slowly, there are changes. For example, the water temperature in spring and autumn is moderate, plankton are active, and the ocean carbon sink capacity is slightly increased.

The change of seasons has a profound impact on the carbon cycle. At the beginning of spring, all things germinate, and the biological respiration in the carbon source gradually increases, while the grass and trees at the carbon sink are green and absorb carbon gradually. In summer, the carbon source reaches a peak due to forest fires, biological activities and industry, and the carbon sink is also strong due to the lush plants. As autumn approaches, the grass and trees gradually wither, the biological activities in the carbon source decrease slightly, and the carbon sink capacity also decreases. In winter, everything is dormant, biological respiration is weak, and carbon sources are few, while marine carbon sinks are relatively stable, and forests and other carbon sink functions are also weak.

The sources and sinks of the carbon cycle are closely linked to the seasons, and the forces of nature check and balance each other. People should observe this law, take advantage of the trend, protect natural carbon sinks, and save carbon source emissions to ensure stable atmospheric carbon, ecological harmony, and long-term sustainability of all things.
